The Otherworldly Beauty of the Faroe Islands! (A 5-Day Itinerary)

The Otherworldly Beauty of the Faroe Islands! (A 5-Day Itinerary)

Some time ago, I went on a road trip to the stunning Faroe Islands together with
my best friend, Jonas,
and I instantly fell in love with that place.
Everywhere I looked,
I felt like I was in some sort of fantasy movie.
Right from the moment that we arrived,
we headed straight to a nearby town called as Gasadalur.
Come night time,
we checked in to our small yet charming traditional lodging
and watched in awe as the sun stayed up
even after 11:00.
The following day,
we drove to Viðareiði in order to reach the nearby mountain’s
hiking trail.
I’m terribly afraid of heights, so
climbing this was quite a challenge.
But thankfully,
I managed to push on
and after 4 hours, I reached the top.
Next morning,
we took a ferry to the island of Kalsoy.
In there, we caught sight of more amazing landscapes
as well as more sheep
— which mind you,
actually number more than the islands' total population.
As the dawn creeped in,
we had a delicious Faroese dinner at KOKS.
As the only Michelin restaurant around that place,
it was surely superb.
Our next stop was Mykines.
Unfortunately, the weather turned sour
and we ended up stranded in a small cafe
in town along with some other tourists and locals.
It was great though because we met a lot of people,
and an Irish harp player even played songs for us.
This one is written in Norway
in a place called [inaudible].
And, uh…
Probably you would know, that people know
what we say about [inaudible],
that there is 9 months winter time
and 3 months, it's really cold.
*laughter*
It's a fresh place,
and, uh…
I wrote this tune called the "Snowy Birch Trees".
Before leaving though,
we decided to brave the harsh rain and winds to climb a
nearby hill,
so that we can see the island's famed cute birds —
the puffins.
Going back to the main island,
we took a boat and it was a rough ride back.
For our last day,
we just drove around the island aimlessly
before catching our flight
so that we can have one last taste of paradise…
